Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026 · Applies to the Mailsheet Chrome extension and mailsheet.app
The short version: Mailsheet reads your Gmail messages only to classify them and copy the relevant details into a Google Sheet you own. To classify each message, the relevant text is sent through our secure processing service to an AI provider (Anthropic). We do not store your emails, we do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train any AI models.

1. Who we are

Mailsheet ("the extension," "the service," "we," "us") is a Google Chrome extension that reads your Gmail inbox, uses artificial intelligence to classify each message (for example: order, invoice, lead, complaint, or shipping), and writes the extracted details into a Google Sheet that you own. This policy explains exactly what data the service accesses, how it is processed, and what we do and do not do with it.

2. What data the extension accesses

To do its job, the extension requests permission to access the following:

Gmail messages (read-only). The extension uses the gmail.readonly permission to read the content of your email messages — including subject lines, sender, body text, and PDF attachments — so each message can be classified and its details (such as order numbers, amounts, and customer names) extracted. The extension cannot send, delete, or modify any of your emails. It only reads them.

Google Sheets. The extension uses the Google Sheets permission to create and write to a spreadsheet in your own Google account. This is where the organized output is stored. The extension only accesses the spreadsheet it creates or that you connect for this purpose.

Your email address. The extension reads your Google account's email address. We use it solely to identify your account for usage limits and, if you upgrade, to link your subscription to your account.

Local storage on your device. The extension stores configuration locally in your browser (your settings, your spreadsheet identifier, and a local troubleshooting log). This data stays on your device.

3. How your data is processed

When you run a scan, the following happens:

Important: We do not retain, log, or store the content of your email messages on our servers. Email content passes through our processing service only momentarily to be classified, and is not saved. The only data we keep about you is your account email address and a count of processed emails (and, if you subscribe, your payment status).

4. Payments

If you upgrade to Mailsheet Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details — Stripe handles that securely. We receive only confirmation that your subscription is active, linked to your account email.

5. Third-party services

The service relies on the following third parties to function. Each has its own privacy policy:

6. What we never do

7. Google API Limited Use disclosure

Mailsheet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Google user data to provide and improve the extension's classification and organization features, and we do not transfer or use it for advertising, or for any purpose other than what is described in this policy.

8. Your control

You can stop Mailsheet at any time by removing the extension from Chrome. You can revoke its access to your Google account at any time in your Google account permissions. The Google Sheet belongs to you and remains yours.
